Job Summary:
The objective of the position is to extend support in implementing the EU Peace building project in Cox’s Bazar by engaging with the fellow team members and PNGO. The position is based in Cox’s Bazar requires clear understanding on effective and lasting conflict prevention, peace building and crisis preparedness to strengthen the capacity of local young peacebuilders, especially women, and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Bangladesh. The incumbent must be able to effectively implement peace and security actions of the youth groups in both Rohingya and Host communities. S/he must have a clear understanding on entrepreneurial and livelihood skills, capacity to contribute to conflict prevention and resolution, promoting inclusion and social cohesion both inter and intra country, inclusive local governance mechanisms to strengthen peace processes, supporting youth led organization, advocacy and campaign initiatives etc. S/he must have prior experience of preparing ToR, concept papers, event budget, drafting agreements to onboard required partners/3rd parties/consultant(s) for the capacity building initiatives of the project. She/He will support strengthening capacity of the partner organization, youth-led organization and community stakeholders to implement the advocacy and campaign plans on thematic issues. The position holder provides strategic and operational support to the Project Manager for national and international advocacy, survey and event management and support to any other tasks assigned by management. S/he will require extensive field movement.
Key responsibilities include (not limited to):
Programme Facilitation and Implementation (40% Time)
- Provide programmatic support to the team and PNGO for planning, designing and implementing EU peacebuilding project.
- Contribute to preparing annual plan, implementation and operational strategy as per project objectives, logical framework and organizational guidelines.
- Provide support to the team to develop different youth led advocacy, campaign plans, strategies and tactics having particular focus on social harmony, cohesion, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, dialogue facilitation and so forth.
- Supporting the capacity development related actions of the project by mainstreaming youth organizational development, youth engagement strategies, youth led action-research to promote peace and social cohesion, youth participation in the decision-making processes and so forth.
- Supporting the team in consultant and external stakeholder management according to the organizational compliances and policies. Contribute to the outsourcing procedures, ToR and workplan development, budgeting, validation and overall management of the outsourced tasks.
- Support PNGO team members on partnership management, troubleshooting and overall program implementation and monitoring.
- Facilitate the procurement process of the asset and equipment according to the project design & scopes by maintaining organizational compliances.
- Rolling out organizational strategies, views, policies, guidelines and measures (i.e. HRBA, ALPS, Youth Led Programming, Women and Gender Mainstreaming etc.) in the overall project interventions and implementations at the ground.
Capacity Building, Advocacy and Campaigning (40% Time)
- Organize events, training and consultation with the various project stakeholders.
- Provide organizational and technical capacity building support to the youth groups, organizations, CSO members/networks, PNGO downstream staff to promote the thematic issue around social cohesion, peacebuilding, harmony of the Rohingya and Host community in Cox’s Bazar.
- Organize & facilitate issue-based training, orientation, workshop to program participants, partner staff and other stakeholders.
- Identify risks of advocacy and campaign and ensure plans to address and manage them.
- Support digital campaigning and online/offline mobilization approaches for youth groups and organizations.
- Develop and deliver effective and innovative advocacy and campaign actions and events.
Documentation, Reporting and evidence Generation (20%):
- Support the team and consultants in preparing training materials, guidelines, campaigning tools etc. by incorporating organizational mandates, standards and overarching visions.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual and other programme reports and document in time aligning with project design and donor requirement.
- Capture evidence of good practices, change stories on a regular basis.
- Support PNGO in drafting and finalizing the narrative, reports, advocacy materials and donor level reports by capturing the change and impact stories from the grassroots. Closely work with the Communication team and provide necessary information to upload the project information in social media and AAB’s website.
Relationships
The incumbent will report to Project Manager – EU Peacebuilding, however, would require maintain relationships with cross sectional personnel and projects in Cox’s Bazar and Dhaka.
Required Educational Qualifications and Experiences
- Graduation degree in Social Science, Anthropology, International Relations, Development Studies, Peace and Conflicts or any other relevant discipline.
- At least 3-4 years’ experience in the field of program management, development cooperation, youth programs, managing projects on social cohesion and peacebuilding in Rohingya and Host communities in Cox’s Bazar for international agencies or development partners.
Required Technical Competencies
- Familiar with multi-sectoral programmes on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, social cohesion, protection, gender responsive public services, social accountability, freedom of expression without prejudice
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Bengali.
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications and project management tools.
