The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has published the results of the undergraduate admission test for the 2024-25 academic session on Wednesday (26 February). The admission process for students on the merit list will commence on 10 March. Detailed admission-related information is available on BUET’s official website.
Seat allocation
Students will be admitted to undergraduate programmes across 13 departments under the faculties of Chemical and Materials Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and Architecture and Planning.
This year, BUET has reserved three seats for candidates from ethnic minority groups in engineering departments and urban and regional planning, along with one reserved seat in the architecture department. The total number of seats available, including these reserved seats, stands at 1,309.
The list of provisionally selected and waitlisted candidates has been published on the BUET website. Additionally, the department allocation for candidates has been announced based on the merit list and their preferences. The university has also outlined the steps that provisionally selected and waitlisted candidates need to follow for admission.
Three-stage admission process
Stage 1: Medical examination
Provisionally selected candidates must download and print the ‘Medical Screening Form for Admission’ from BUET’s website and fill out the first section themselves. The second section must be completed by a registered medical practitioner following the candidate’s medical examination and lab report assessment.
Candidates must bear the cost of medical check-ups and laboratory reports. If a vision impairment is detected, a re-examination may be conducted within seven days. Other temporary conditions, such as hydrocele or hernia, may be reconsidered for re-examination within a month. If a specialist opinion is required, BUET’s chief medical officer may recommend one, subject to approval by the admission committee chairman.
Stage 2: Payment of admission fees
Candidates seeking admission into engineering and urban and regional planning departments must pay a fee of Tk7,150, while architecture students must pay Tk7,200. Payments must be made via demand draft or pay order in favour of ‘Comptroller, BUET-Dhaka’ through Sonali Bank Limited.
The original demand draft or pay order, along with three copies, must be submitted in person at the designated time and location. The demand draft can be issued from any Sonali Bank branch nationwide, whereas the pay order is only available at Sonali Bank branches within the Dhaka City Corporation area.
Stage 3: Submission of documents for final admission confirmation
Provisionally selected candidates must report in person on the specified date, time, and location mentioned in the official notice.

The original academic documents will be retained at the office of the respective admission committee chairman. These documents will not be returned or photocopied for any other purpose until admission is completed or cancelled.

Admission confirmation and waiting list candidates
