Research Assistant | BRAC JPGSPH
The BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health (BRAC JPGSPH) at BRAC University was established in 2004 as an educational and research institution focusing on the integral areas of teaching, research, and services. The goal of the School is not only to impart knowledge but also to act as a center of excellence in knowledge creation through research and training that connects with practice.
Gender-based violence (GBV) and the inadequate sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services associated with it remain critical challenges in Bangladesh. Over half of ever-married women experience intimate-partner violence, child marriage affects one in two girls, and dowry-related abuse and acid attacks continue. Although national action plans and legal protections exist, weak enforcement, patriarchal norms, and rural health-service gaps curb progress. SRH indicators mirror these inequities: high adolescent pregnancy, unmet contraceptive needs, unsafe abortions, and unequal maternal-care access. The study titled “The Health Sector Response to Gender-Based Violence and Sexual Reproductive Health Programmes in Bangladesh” will assess how the health sector can deliver a coordinated, accountable response to GBV and strengthen SRH programmes nationwide.
