NU allows extra 30 minutes to special needs students in final exams

Special needs students sitting for the National University’s final honours fourth-year examinations will now receive an additional 30 minutes to complete their papers.
The decision was taken at the 97th meeting of the university’s academic council and aligns with earlier instructions from the Ministry of Education.
The announcement was made in a notice signed by the university’s Controller of Examinations, Md Enamul Karim.
According to the notice, students diagnosed with autism, Down syndrome or cerebral palsy will be eligible for this benefit during the 2023 honours fourth-year exams, provided they meet certain conditions.
Eligible students must hold a valid disability certificate issued by the Department of Social Services. Before the exams, college principals or acting officials must verify both the student’s admit card and the disability certificate, and ensure necessary arrangements are made.
Copies of the verified documents must be submitted to the Controller or Deputy Controller of Examinations concerned.
Additionally, the answer scripts of these students must be separated, specially sealed, and clearly marked in red ink with the label “Answer script of special needs student” on the envelope. These scripts must be sent to Deputy Controller of Examinations (Honours Part-4), Md Shamim Ahmed, at: National University, Gazipur-1407.
