Govt introduces digital certificate verification to ease education and employment abroad

Bangladesh has launched a fully online certificate verification and Apostille service to make overseas education and employment processes faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
The announcement was made in a statement published yesterday (23 August) on the official Facebook page of the Chief Adviser GOB.
Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, internationally recognised Apostille certificates will now be issued digitally for the authentication of public documents. The system, according to the government, will “eliminate the need for physical visits to embassies and foreign authorities, cut fees associated with manual attestation, prevent fraud by ensuring secure digital verification, and make verification for overseas education, employment, and migration faster and easier.”
Officials estimate the reform could save Bangladeshis at least Tk700 crore annually. “The new digital system saves students and workers from expensive, stressful paperwork by making certificate verification quick, affordable, and internationally recognised,” the statement added.
The Apostille is a certificate issued under the Hague Convention of 1961, which authenticates public documents so they are legally valid in member countries. Bangladesh formally joined the convention earlier this year, which would enable its citizens to benefit from the streamlined process.
