Applications are invited by the Language, Research & Planning Division, International Mother Language Institute (IMLI) for research scholarship in different categories following IMLI Research Guidelines 2022 from the researchers of home and abroad who already enrolled in any recognized university/institute of Bangladesh for MPhil, PhD or Post-Doctoral program under the terms and conditions mentioned below.

1. Candidate must be interested in the history of language movement(s) of Bangla and other languages; history and evolution of languages; use of information technology for the purpose of preservation and internationalization of languages; teaching and acquisition of languages; education, literature, culture and heritage, history and human resources development (relating to language) of mother languages and dialects of ethnic group at home and abroad; identification of endangered and about to be extinct languages; preservation, documentation, standardization, revitalization and preparation of corpus;

2. Research category

(A) Any researcher having necessary experience and knowledge in research work can apply for research scholarship against small-scale research (six months) and large-scale research (ten months) of Professional Research. Any officer of IMLI employee with an excellent academic background can also apply for this research scholarship. In both the cases, the Research Management Committee shall take decision considering the academic qualifications and research experience of the applicants. A researcher shall carry out the research of this kind independently and the concerned committee shall regularly supervise and monitor the research work.

(B) Any government officer (more than forty years old), retired officers, professor/associate professor at university/college, any experienced researcher or any person engaged in research works at any research institute can apply for the research scholarship against Fellowship Research. The researcher shall have MPhil/PhD degree with at least two research articles published in the recognized journal (with ISSN) as well as in one peer-reviewed research journal. A researcher shall also carry out the research of this kind independently and the concerned committee shall regularly supervise and monitor the research work.

(C) Any person/researcher already got the offer letter of admission from any recognized local/foreign university for doing MPhil and PhD degree in connection with the activities of International Mother Language Institute on the topics/subjects mentioned above and obtained consent letter from the supervisor/competent authority, she/he can apply with necessary documents for the research scholarship against MPhil and PhD Research.

(D) Any person/researcher having PhD from any recognized local/foreign university and also having published 2 (two) articles in any recognized research journal can apply with necessary documents for the research scholarship against Post-doctoral Research on the topics/subjects mentioned a

3. The applicant carrying research work under any other university/institute with funding/scholarship will not be eligible to apply for this IMLI scholarship.
4. The same research proposal shall not be submitted in more than one category.
5. The nominated researcher/s in all fulltime (Fellowship, MPhil, PhD, Post-doctoral) researches funded by IMLI shall not be engaged in any other or in any new research work until the ongoing research work is submitted finally.
6. The researcher/s nominated for professional and fellowship scholarship shall have to obtain prior approval from the IMLI authority to travel or to stay in foreign country during the research period.
7. A researcher must follow the conditions/instructions mentioned in the research guidelines for implementing/conducting research activities and cost of research scholarship accordingly.
8. The applicant must submit his/her biodata along with required information in the application form and research work/publication list (if applicable).
   9, The applicant staying outside of Bangladesh shall have to download the application form available on the website www.imli.gov.bd and send it to the e-mail [email protected] (either PDF or JPEG/JPG format) after properly filling up.
9. A soft copy of research proposal shall be sent in MS Word and in PDF format to the e-mail: [email protected].
10. A Pay-order/bank draft for Tk 1000/- (One thousand) issued from any branch of Agrani Bank Limited in favor of Director General, International Mother Language Institute shall be attached with the application. The applicant staying outside of Bangladesh shall submit the pay- order/bank draft through the local representative at Bangladesh.
11. The application must be forwarded through the proper channel/authority (if applicable).
12. Any incomplete application shall be deemed as rejected.
    14′ The decision regarding the award of any scholarship category by the IMLI Research Management Committee shall be deemed/ considered as final.
13. Any sort of fraudulent or forgery committed by the researcher at any stage of scholarship nomination or providing false information/document in the application shall be deemed as cancelled and legal action shall be taken against the said researcher.
14. Any personal communication or recommendation in favor of an applicant for availing of the nomination shall be considered as unfit.
