UIU hosts ‘Presentation Champs: Season II’ Grand Finale

The English Language Forum, a wing of the Directorate of Career Counselling and Student Affairs at United International University, organised an inter-university competition titled ‘Presentation Champs: Season II’.

The grand finale and prize-giving ceremony was held on 10 February at the UIU campus on Madani Avenue, United City, Dhaka.

The competition aimed to showcase students’ presentation skills and featured a vibrant display of creativity and innovation. A total of 92 teams from 18 leading universities across the country, including UIU, NSU, EWU, ULAB and AIUB, took part in the preliminary round.

The top eight teams advanced to the final round, where they competed in the PechaKucha format. Each team was allotted exactly 6 minutes and 40 seconds to present 20 slides, with each slide displayed for 20 seconds. The format challenged participants to deliver compelling stories through concise messaging and engaging visuals. Teams were evaluated on time management, creativity and audience engagement.

Among the finalists, team “The Team without a Name” from United International University secured the grand champion title and won a prize of Tk 25,000. Team “Team Red Marked” from East West University became the first runners-up, receiving Tk 15,000, while “Ki Dewa Jiee” from North South University claimed the second runners-up position with a prize of Tk 10,000. The winners were presented with trophies by the Chief Guest, Professor Dr Md Abul Kashem Mia, Vice-Chancellor of United International University.

The judging panel comprised Professor Dr Salma Karim, Director of the BBA Programme, School of Business and Economics, UIU; Dr Suman Ahmmed, Head of the Department of CSE, UIU; Dr Shantanu Kumar Saha, Head of the Department of EDS, UIU; Mr Mohammad Aman Ullah, Founder and Chief Organiser of the English Olympiad; Ms Kirsten Gudgeon, Lecturer, Department of English, UIU; and Ms Ummay Sumaiya Mutiatur Rasul, Head of Communications, UIU.

Faculty members, officials, participants, students and distinguished guests were present at the programme, making the event a successful celebration of effective communication and public speaking skills.
