IUB GSG

The Department of Global Studies and Governance (GSG) at Independent University Bangladesh (IUB) recently organised an academic session titled “How to Use a Phenomenological Approach in Qualitative Research” as part of its GSG304: Research Methodology course.

The session was conducted by Touhida Tasnim, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Social Relations at East West University. Drawing on her expertise, she introduced students to the foundations of phenomenological inquiry, emphasising its role in exploring lived experiences within qualitative research.

Through a combination of conceptual explanation and interactive discussion, the session encouraged students to critically engage with research methodologies beyond conventional frameworks. Participants gained insights into how phenomenology can be applied to better understand subjective human experiences and social realities.

The event provided a platform for academic exchange, enabling students to refine their analytical perspectives while connecting theoretical knowledge with practical research approaches.

The department expressed appreciation to the speaker and participants, noting that such initiatives continue to strengthen methodological understanding and foster a culture of critical inquiry among students.
