Bangladeshi boxer Sanjida Jannat has secured the WBC Asian Continental Belt in the minimumweight category, defeating Thailand’s Pornpimon in an eight-round bout, marking a significant milestone for women’s boxing in Bangladesh.

Ranked 17th in the world and seventh in Asia in her weight class, Sanjida has steadily emerged as one of the region’s most promising fighters. The latest victory adds a major continental title to her growing list of achievements.

Reflecting on her win, Sanjida said the title had long been a personal goal. “I thought it would take me five or six years, but I am glad I could achieve it within three,” she noted.

Beyond the achievement itself, the victory highlights the discipline and perseverance behind her journey. In an earlier interview with TBS Graduates, she spoke about the sacrifices required to compete at the highest level, from rigorous training routines to strict lifestyle discipline and the pressure of expectations.

Known for her resilience and determination, Sanjida has consistently framed her performances in the ring as a response to scepticism and barriers faced outside it. This title, her first major continental belt, stands as a defining moment in that journey.

The win is expected to further elevate Bangladesh’s presence in regional boxing and inspire a new generation of female athletes in the sport.
