Dental Admission Circular for the 2024-25 Academic Year in Bangladesh
The admission notice for the 2024-25 academic year for government and private dental colleges in the country has been published. According to the Medical and Dental College/Unit MBBS and BDS admission policy-2025 formulated by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC), students must apply online. Deductions for second-time candidates will be made in two ways. The pass mark remains 40 this year. Additionally, various conditions set by BMDC have been mentioned. Applications will start next Sunday (December 29). This information was revealed in a notice from the Directorate General of Medical Education (DGME) on Tuesday (December 24). Interested candidates must apply online.
Eligibility for Application
- To participate in the admission test for the 2024-2025 academic year, candidates must have passed the HSC/A-Level or equivalent exam in 2023 or 2024. Candidates who passed SSC/O-Level or equivalent before 2021 will not be considered eligible.
- Candidates must have passed SSC/O-Level or equivalent in the science stream, and HSC/A-Level or equivalent must include Biology, Physics, and Chemistry. The combined GPA in SSC/O-Level and HSC/A-Level or equivalent must be at least 9.00.
- For indigenous and non-indigenous candidates from hill tracts, the combined GPA in SSC/O-Level and HSC/A-Level or equivalent must be at least 8.00. However, no individual exam GPA can be less than 3.5.
- All candidates must have a minimum grade point of 4.0 in Biology in the HSC/A-Level or equivalent exam to be eligible.
Admission Test Syllabus
The written admission test will be based on the HSC syllabus. The written exam will consist of 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark, for a total of 100 marks. Subject-wise marks distribution:
- Biology – 30
- Chemistry – 25
- Physics – 20
- English – 15
- General Knowledge (Bangladesh & International Affairs) – 10
Exam Details
- The exam duration is 1 hour.
- Each correct answer will carry 1 mark.
- Multiple answers to a question will be considered incorrect.
- 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Candidates scoring below 40 marks will be deemed unsuccessful and ineligible for BDS/equivalent courses at home or abroad.
- Results will be published with merit rankings.
Evaluation of GPA
- SSC/O-Level or equivalent GPA (multiplied by 10) = Maximum 50 marks.
- HSC/A-Level or equivalent GPA (multiplied by 10) = Maximum 50 marks.
Deductions for Second-Time Applicants
- Candidates who passed HSC/A-Level or equivalent in 2023 will have 3 marks deducted from their total score.
- Candidates enrolled in government dental/medical colleges or units in the 2023-24 academic year will have 6 marks deducted from their total score.

Application Fee
The application fee is 1000 BDT, payable only through prepaid Teletalk.

- Online Application Start Date: December 29, 2024 (Sunday) at 10:00 AM
- Online Application Deadline: January 20, 2025 (Monday) at 11:59 PM
- Application Fee Payment Deadline: January 21, 2025 (Tuesday) at 11:59 PM
- Admit Card Download and Color Print: February 23 to February 25, 2025 (Sunday to Tuesday)
- Admission Test Date: February 28, 2025 (Friday), from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
