A clash broke out between students of Dhaka College and Dhaka City College in the Science Lab area of the capital, leaving at least five students injured.

The altercation started around 11:30am today (21 August), leading to a violent confrontation between groups of students from the two colleges, confirmed Officer-in-Charge (OC) of New Market Police Station AKM Mahfuzul Haque.

Additional police forces were deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control, he added.

Police confirmed that two students from Dhaka College and three from City College were injured in the incident. Their identities have not yet been disclosed.

The injured have been taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for treatment.

OC AKM Mahfuzul Haque told TBS that City College students attacked two Dhaka College students on Tuesday (19 August). Stemming from that incident, a scuffle broke out between the two groups which ultimately turned violent.
