Dhaka University hosted an awareness run titled ‘Run for Green Campus’, attracting over 1,200 participants. The ‘DURC 10K 2025’ event, organised by the Dhaka University Runners Community, featured 10km and 5km races, aiming to raise awareness about creating a green campus. The run commenced at 5:45 am on Friday, 28th February, drawing renowned runners, ironmen, master athletes, Everest summiteers, and professional and amateur runners from across the country.
The route started at the Haji Muhammad Muhsin Hall gate, passing through key university landmarks before returning to the starting point. 5km runners completed one lap, while 10km runners completed two. Finishers within 1 hour 40 minutes for the 10km and 60 minutes for the 5km received medals, food, and prizes. Twelve top performers across both categories received cash and special awards. A new ‘Last Finisher Award’ was also introduced. Race results were determined by personal gun time.
The awards ceremony, held between 8:00 am and 8:30 am, announced the podium finishers. Sabrina Akhtar Swarna won the 10km women’s category, and Ashraful Alam won the men’s. In the 5km, Teresa Kochi won the women’s category, and Mo. Amir Hossain Amu won the men’s. The event was supported by the university’s physical education centre, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Bangladesh Athletics Federation, and various sponsors, who provided medical and other support.
