AUST honours July Mass Uprising with photo exhibition, seminar, and prayers

In a heartfelt tribute to the July Mass Movement, Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) inaugurated a powerful photo exhibition at the university’s Jury Room. The event was formally opened by the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, accompanied by the Vice Chancellor, Treasurer, Advisor of Student Welfare, and other distinguished guests.
The exhibition featured poignant images from the July 2024 movement, capturing the emotion, resistance, and unity of the time. Students moved from frame to frame, exchanging reactions and memories—many were surprised to see themselves immortalised in the photographs.
Later in the day, a Dua Mahfil was held at the university plaza in memory of those who lost their lives during the uprising. Faculty members, students, and guests gathered in solemn prayer, seeking peace, justice, and better governance in the days ahead.

As evening approached, the focus shifted to the Prof Dr M.H. Khan Auditorium for a seminar commemorating the anniversary of the July Mass Uprising. The auditorium was filled with students, alumni, and guests, all listening intently to reflections and stories from the movement.
The seminar’s chief guest, Farida Akhter, Adviser for the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, delivered a powerful speech, recalling the sacrifices that paved the way for progress and democratic rights. She also presented tokens of honour to prominent AUST leaders who had played vital roles during the uprising.
Following the seminar, Farida Akhter revisited the exhibition. As they paused at each image, their conversations revealed the weight each frame carried.
The day concluded with reflection and pride, serving as a reminder of how far the university community has come and how far it still has to go. The occasion was a blend of nostalgia, hope, and the enduring energy of student resistance.
