With an aim to prepare students for future career opportunities, Comilla University (CoU) hosted a five-day programme under the initiative “Career Hub powered by BRAC.”

The programme began on 14 September, with an activation session and concluded on 18 September, with career counselling sessions.

As part of the initiative, a seminar titled “Know Your Employer” was held on 16 September, at the Social Science Faculty Conference Room. Mohammad Rashedul Alam, an official of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), attended as the keynote speaker. Other discussants included BRAC’s audio-visual expert and communication specialist Morshed Bhuiyan; Afroza Khanom, BRAC Chattogram Career Hub lead; Habibur Rahman Asif, Deputy Manager of ISD; Shahriar Akib, Employment Officer of ISD; Jisan Barua, Activation Officer; and Mohammad Sarwar Uddin.

Students from different departments of CoU joined the seminar, where speakers emphasised professional development, confidence building, communication skills and technological proficiency. The organisers also announced that more skill-based training workshops would be arranged for students in the coming months.

Meanwhile, career counselling sessions were held at the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism seminar room on 17 and 18 September. These were conducted by Afroza Khanom, hub lead of BRAC Career Hub in Chattogram, and Umme Habiba, Training and Counselling Officer.

Highlighting the overall initiative, Afroza Khanom said, “Career Hub not only provides training but also works to create employment opportunities aligned with trainees’ expectations. By doing so, we are contributing to the development of a skilled workforce in the country.”

Activation Officer Jisan Barua added, “Most students remain anxious about their career paths. By 2030, Career Hub aims to build one million skilled individuals across Bangladesh. These programmes are part of that vision.”

Earlier, on 14–15 September, student registrations were completed under the hub, followed by the seminar on 16 September and counselling sessions on 17–18 September.
