BRAC University has become the first institution in Bangladesh to be recognised as an “Academic Affiliate” by the Internal Audit Academic Alliance for its efforts in advancing internal audit education.

Nausheen Ahmed, head of internal audit and compliance at BRAC University and secretary general of The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Bangladesh, has been appointed “Academic Alliance Coordinator” of the university and IIA Global.

Confirmed on 26 August, the recognition will enable the university to access grants, resources, teaching materials, and educator networks at more than 150 colleges and universities worldwide. It will also open pathways to global accreditations aimed at strengthening internal audit education.

BRAC Business School is preparing to offer IIA-affiliated courses and provide free IIA membership to its students, enhancing their professional readiness and international exposure.

The endorsement also contributes to achieving United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), which seeks to equip young people with relevant skills for financial and professional success.

The Internal Audit Academic Alliance was created by the IIA and Internal Audit Foundation to acknowledge universities that integrate internal audit education into their curricula and prepare students for careers in the field.

Founded in 1941 and headquartered in the United States, the IIA is a global leader in advancing the internal audit profession, setting standards for education, research, and professional development.
