Students of BRAC University formed a human chain and staged a peaceful protest in front of the university’s main gate on Tuesday (3 March), demanding justice and stronger action in response to rising incidents of rape and violence against women across the country.

Holding placards calling for accountability, stricter enforcement of laws and improved safety measures, the students expressed solidarity with survivors and voiced concern over the current situation.

The demonstration began in the morning and remained peaceful throughout. Participants maintained discipline and did not disrupt traffic or academic activities. Several students said the protest aimed to send a clear message that violence against women must not be normalised and that immediate preventive steps are necessary.

The protesters urged the authorities to ensure swift investigations and fair trials in such cases, alongside the effective implementation of existing laws to prevent future crimes.
