BUTEX welcomes batch 51 with formal orientation programme

Bangladesh University of Textiles (BUTEX) held its central orientation programme to formally welcome Batch-51 students across five faculties and eleven departments on 7 July 2025. The full-day event, held from 10:00am to 5:00pm on the university campus, marked the beginning of the academic journey for the newest cohort and introduced them to the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) framework adopted by the institution.
To accommodate students from all departments, the programme was divided into two sessions. The morning session (10:00am–1:00pm) featured the Faculty of Textile Chemical Engineering and the Faculty of Fashion Design and Apparel Engineering. The afternoon session (2:00pm–5:00pm) was attended by students from the Faculty of Textile Engineering, the Faculty of Textile Management and Business Studies, and the Faculty of Science and Engineering.
A major highlight of the orientation was the presentation on BUTEX’s OBE curriculum, which prioritises measurable learning outcomes and practical competencies over traditional content delivery. Designed to meet evolving industry needs, the curriculum ensures that graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge required to thrive in the textile sector both at home and abroad.
The orientation programme was inaugurated in the presence of distinguished guests. Siddique Zobair, Senior Secretary of the Secondary and Higher Education Division under the Ministry of Education, attended as the chief guest. Engineer Ehsanul Karim Kaiser, convener of the Institute of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET); Engineer Mohiuddin Ahmed (Selim), chairman of the Textile Engineering Division at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh; and Engineer Abdus Sobhan CIP, managing director of Auko-Tex Group, were present as special guests. The event was chaired by Prof Dr Md Zulhash Uddin, Vice Chancellor of BUTEX.
Throughout the day, students were introduced to faculty members, departmental heads, and key academic leaders. Departmental sessions outlined academic structures, course objectives, and expectations under the new outcome-based approach, with an emphasis on fostering critical thinking, innovation, and industry-readiness.
The orientation reaffirmed BUTEX’s commitment to delivering a future-focused and skill-oriented education, setting a strong foundation for the academic and professional growth of its newest students.
