Bangladeshi teen brothers reach global finals with eco-friendly water filter

Shafi Bin Sultan and Sabik Bin Sultan have become the first Bangladeshis to reach the finals of the Diamond Challenge 2025, hosted by the University of Delaware’s Horn Entrepreneurship Centre.

Their innovation, the BLUESHIELD FILTER—an eco-friendly, portable water purification system—secured a Top 5 spot in the Business Innovation category, beating over 1,200 teams from 126 countries.

Designed for water-scarce and flood-prone regions, the filter uses advanced carbon nanomaterials and upcycled components. Its full design remains confidential due to ongoing patent procedures.

The teen inventors will present their project at the Limitless World Summit in the US on 1–2 May, pitching to global CEOs, investors, and academics. Their journey marks a significant milestone for Bangladesh in global entrepreneurship.
