BRACU Duburi qualifies directly for RoboSub 2025 semi-final

BRACU Duburi, the country’s first autonomous underwater robotics research team, has secured direct qualification to the Semi-Finals of RoboSub 2025, one of the world’s most prestigious platforms in underwater technology and autonomous systems.
RoboSub 2025 is scheduled to take place from 11 to 17 July in Irvine, California, where leading innovators and research teams will demonstrate advanced Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) through complex, mission-driven challenges.
BRACU Duburi successfully passed the international evaluation by submitting the pre-qualification task, earning its place among the world’s most advanced AUV teams.
Following its global second-place finish in 2023, the team is once again drawing international attention for developing scalable, high-performance underwater systems designed with a focus on accessibility, innovation, and real-world application.

“This is not just another success or milestone for our team. This is a moment for Bangladesh again,” said Abid Mahmud, team lead of BRACU Duburi.
This year’s progress is supported by Dubotech Digital Ltd, the country’s pioneering underwater technology company, which is collaborating with Duburi on research, development, and system integration.
“Our mission is to make Bangladesh a leader in underwater innovation,” said Nayem Hossain Saikat, CEO of Dubotech. “Duburi’s progress reflects that vision coming to life.”
For a riverine nation like Bangladesh, where underwater robotics can play a transformative role in maritime security, infrastructure inspection, the blue economy, and environmental monitoring, this achievement represents more than international recognition. It marks a step toward shaping a future driven by homegrown technology.
