BRACU Duburi, the research and innovation team from BRAC University, has reached in the United States to participate in RoboSub 2025, marking a significant milestone for Bangladesh in the global robotics arena. The prestigious underwater robotics competition is taking place in Irvine, California, from 11–17 August.

In a historic achievement, both of the team’s Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs) – Duburi 4.2 and DuboMini 1.0 – have separately qualified for the Semi-Finals. This rare dual qualification has been achieved by only a handful of teams worldwide, including leading institutions from the Ivy League.

Duburi 4.2 is the team’s flagship AUV, designed for long-range, high-endurance missions, and equipped with advanced navigation and multi-sensor integration. DuboMini 1.0 is a compact, agile vehicle optimised for speed and precision in confined underwater environments. Together, these platforms position BRACU Duburi to address a diverse range of competition challenges with both endurance and manoeuvrability.

The team’s participation has been supported by Dubotech, Bangladesh’s first deep-tech startup dedicated to undersea technology, which has provided R&D mentorship and prototype development support. Cathay Pacific Airways, the official airline partner, ensured the safe transport of the team and its sensitive robotics equipment to the USA. The Business Standard is serving the initiative as official media partner.

By securing two Semi-Final positions in one of the world’s most competitive robotics events, BRACU Duburi has demonstrated Bangladesh’s growing capabilities in deep-tech innovation and positioned the country alongside top global robotics teams.
