Consumer Youth Bangladesh (CYB) Jahangirnagar University branch organised a seminar on Consumer rights 2025 yesterday (16 August) at Zahir Raihan Auditorium.

CYB at Jahangirnagar University actively monitors food prices, quality, and other consumer goods on campus, and works in collaboration with the university administration to resolve any irregularities.

The programme’s Chief Guest was Professor Dr. Md. Kamrul Ahsan, Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University. The Special Guests included Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Professor Mahfuz Alam, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Sohel Ahmed, Dr. Rashedul Alam (Proctor, Jahangirnagar University) and Advisor Mohammad Abdul Razzak.

In yesterday’s seminar, Shaha Alam, Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, spoke on the Consumer Rights Protection Act 2009. A session on CV Writing was conducted by Mohammad Ali Firoz (A.G.M, BDjobs.com) and about Higher Education, was presented by Mohammad Jubair Ahmed, Associate Professor, Bangladesh Institute of Governance and Management.

The event was attended by more than 400 students, who were provided with lunch, pens, notebooks, and certificates. In addition, all participants were offered a special opportunity to register for IELTS at only Tk1,000.

The invited guests highly praised CYB’s voluntary initiatives, wished them success, and highlighted their various social welfare activities before the audience.

Husni Mobarak, General Secretary of CYB (Jahangirnagar Branch), said: “We always remain vigilant in monitoring food prices and quality within the campus. Any complaint from students is immediately taken into consideration, and we work closely with the administration to resolve them promptly. We also conduct awareness programs among students so that they are not subjected to any form of consumer rights violations. We will continue our efforts in the future as well.”
