CUET appoints psychologist to support student mental health

Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) has appointed a professional psychologist at its medical centre to support the mental wellbeing of students.
The initiative was announced in a notice issued by the university’s medical centre on 18 June. According to the notice, professional counselling services will be available from Sunday to Thursday, between 2:00 PM and 10:00 PM. Students can access the service by filling out a registration form and securing an appointment.
Female students may also request counselling sessions within their respective dormitories, but they must first contact the medical centre for scheduling.
Speaking on the matter, Professor Dr Md Saiful Islam, Deputy Director of CUET’s Directorate of Student Welfare, said, “We have received feedback from hall authorities, department heads, advisors, and several faculty members that many of our students often experience mental distress. In response to this demand, we have appointed a psychologist to help ensure not only physical but also mental wellbeing.”
This initiative is part of CUET’s broader commitment to creating a supportive academic environment where students can thrive both emotionally and academically.
