Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted an academic dialogue titled “Finance, Education, and Development: Perspectives from a Bangladeshi Expatriate” on 3 February 2026. The event was organised by the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities (DSSH).
The session featured Dr Mohammed Mahtabuddin Chaudhury, a former finance faculty member at McGill University, Canada, who has more than 35 years of international academic experience.
Drawing on his global career, Dr Chaudhury discussed financial risk modelling, derivatives, and market price dynamics, while linking international financial theories to development challenges in Bangladesh.
Dr Chaudhury, who earned his PhD from Simon Fraser University, shared insights from his extensive research and professional work, offering students and faculty a broader perspective on finance, education, and development.
Held at BC 7010, the interactive session allowed participants to engage directly with the speaker, who has contributed to numerous refereed journals as well as public discourse on national issues.
