DU OSL department holds freshers’ orientation for 10th batch, farewell for 5th batch
The Department of Organisation Strategy and Leadership (OSL) at University of Dhaka organised a freshers’ orientation programme for its 10th batch of students alongside a farewell for the 5th batch.
The programme was held on 13 April at the Prof. Dr. Abdullah Farouq Multipurpose Hall of the Faculty of Business Studies.
The orientation began with a morning session at the OSL Lab Room, where new students were welcomed and introduced to faculty members. This was followed by a presentation session designed to familiarise freshers with the academic structure, opportunities and departmental activities.
A campus tour was also arranged, allowing newcomers to explore the university environment with the support of faculty members and volunteers, and to learn about the culture, heritage and history of the University of Dhaka.
The formal session began in the afternoon with speeches from current students and alumni, who shared their experiences and insights to help freshers better understand academic and campus life.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shariatullah addressed the audience, followed by remarks from Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul Moyeen, founding chairman of the department. The chairman, Md. Rashedur Rahman, also spoke at the programme and encouraged students to actively participate in academic and co-curricular activities.
The dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, Prof. Dr. Mahmood Osman Imam, attended the programme and delivered an address highlighting the importance of discipline, engagement and continuous learning throughout university life.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Associate Professor Sharmeen Akter.
The department said the initiative aimed to help new students smoothly transition into university life while building connections with faculty, seniors and peers.
