A special screening of Shunte Ki Pao? (Are You Listening!) by acclaimed filmmaker Kamar Ahmad Simon was held at the Department of Television, Film and Photography (TFP), University of Dhaka. The event was organised by the TFP Film Club.

Following the screening, students participated in an interactive session with the director, where he spoke about his filmmaking journey, the inspiration behind Are You Listening!, and shared insights into his process, philosophy, and practice.

Released in 2012, Are You Listening! is Kamar Ahmad Simon’s first feature-length creative non-fiction film. It opened the 55th DOK Leipzig in Germany and went on to win the Grand Prix at Cinéma du Réel in Paris. The film also received the National Film Award in Bangladesh and was selected for screening at La Cinéma du Monde in Cannes—an unprecedented recognition for a Bangladeshi documentary.

The session, titled ‘Meet the Personality’, was moderated by the TFP Film Club and provided a space for meaningful dialogue between students and the filmmaker.

After the event, TFP Film Club moderator Saiyeed Shahjada Al Kareem welcomed Kamar Ahmad Simon with flowers and a gift on behalf of the club.

The screening and discussion allowed students to engage with cinema not just as spectators, but as active participants in a broader conversation about storytelling, society, and the role of the filmmaker.
