East Delta University celebrates Women’s Day with solidarity initiative and support for female staff
Students, faculty members and staff at East Delta University came together on 8 March to observe International Women’s Day through a series of awareness and appreciation initiatives on campus.
The programme, organised by the Women Empowerment and Leadership Club, was held from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Seminar Room 1 and the open space outside the university canteen. Members of the university community participated in the event to highlight the importance of women’s empowerment and gender equality.
The celebration focused on recognising the achievements and contributions of women in society while also appreciating the dedication of female support staff members who play an important role in the daily functioning of the university. A key highlight of the programme was the distribution of ration packages to 12 female support staff members as a gesture of appreciation and welfare support. The initiative acknowledged their service and contribution to the university community.
As part of the celebration, students, faculty members and staff were encouraged to wear purple, green or white, the symbolic colours associated with the global movement for women’s equality. Many participants joined the initiative, creating a visible show of solidarity across the campus. Through the programme, East Delta University highlighted the importance of recognising women’s contributions and fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment within the university community.
