Eastern University moot court team qualifies for Oxford international rounds
Eastern University has announced that its Eastern University Moot Court Society (EUMCS) team has qualified for the international rounds of the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition 2025–26 for the first time.
The international rounds are scheduled to be held from 14–16 April, 2026 at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, according to the university.
The EUMCS team – Md Sakib Khondoker, Jonayed Al Ratul and Mehbuba Akter Maria – earned the qualification at the 16th South Asia Regional Rounds, held virtually on 6–8 February, 2026. The regional rounds were hosted by the National Law University (NLU), Delhi, in collaboration with the Centre for Communication Governance at NLU Delhi and the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, University of Oxford.
Eastern University said this was the first time a team from Bangladesh had reached the semi-finals of the South Asia regional round and that it would be the only representative from Bangladesh at the international rounds this year.
The Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition, established in 2008, focuses on legal issues related to freedom of expression and international law, examining the intersection of law, media and technology. The competition is named after Prof Monroe E Price, founder of the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy (PCMLP) at the University of Oxford.
The Faculty of Law and EUMCS thanked coaches, faculty members and peers for their support, and said the team is preparing to represent the university at the international rounds.
