The Bangladesh Socio-Cultural Forum (BSCF) organised the Second BSCF Astronomy Camp 2025, titled “Second BSCF Astronomy Camp 2025 – Powered by SheSTEM,” bringing together students from grades seven through university level across the Rajshahi Division. More than 1,000 students participated in the three-day event.

The camp began on 9 October at the Rajshahi Novotheatre with registration, logistics distribution, and a pre-inaugural session. Professor Dr Rayhana Shams Islam, Department of Physics, University of Rajshahi, attended as chief guest. Special guests included Mr Tuktak Talukder, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education & ICT), Rajshahi; Dr Habibur Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Folklore and Social Development Studies, University of Rajshahi; Mr Ebadat Hossain, Deputy Director, Rajshahi Novotheatre; and Syed Siddiqur Rahman, Adviser, BSCF. The session was chaired by Samin Yasar Saad.

On 10 October, the camp continued at Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET). Mr Khondker Azim Ahmed, NDC, Divisional Commissioner, Rajshahi, attended as chief guest, with Professor Dr SM Abdur Razzaque, Vice-Chancellor, RUET, as chief patron. Special guests included Professor Dr Robiul Islam Sarkar, Director, Student Welfare Office, RUET; Professor Dr Abdullah Shams Bin Tariq, Department of Physics, University of Rajshahi; Professor Dr Mozzamel Hossain Bokul, Chair, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, University of Rajshahi; Mr Md Mahinul Hasan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Rajshahi; and Omar Farhan Khan, Senior Business Consultant, LightCastle Partners. The session was chaired by Camp Chief Samin Yasar Saad. Activities included theoretical sessions, group work, and a special session by renowned astrophotographer Jubair Kaulin.

The final day, 11 October, began at Kazi Nazrul Islam Auditorium, University of Rajshahi, with the Astronomy Olympiad. At 10:00 AM, a panel discussion on “Science Education: Policies and Realities” was jointly organised by BSCF and the Institute of Informatics and Development (IID). Panelists included Professor Dr Rayhana Shams Islam; Ms Shama Obaid, Divisional Organisational Secretary (Faridpur), BNP; Samanta Sharmin, Senior Joint Convener, National Citizen Party; Umama Fatima, Youth Activist; Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, Assistant Secretary General, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami; Saeed Ahmed, Chief Executive, IID; Rezaul Karim, Teacher, Rajbari Government High School; and Camp Chief Samin Yasar Saad. The session was moderated by Mahfuz Mishu, International Affairs Editor, Jamuna Television.

The closing and award ceremony began at 4:30 PM with Mr Md Anwar Hossain, Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology, as chief guest. Special guests included Professor Dr Main Uddin, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Administration), University of Rajshahi; Professor Dr Md Farid Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic), University of Rajshahi; Mohammad Abu Sufian, Commissioner, Rajshahi Metropolitan Police; Md Shawgatul Alam, Director General, Novotheatre; Dr Iqbal Hossain, Associate Professor, Kushtia Medical College and Adviser, BSCF; and Nazmul Kabir Al Mehmud, Senior Business Consultant, LightCastle Partners. The welcome speech was delivered by Camp Chief Samin Yasar Saad, and the session was chaired by Professor Dr Saleh Hasan Naqib, Vice-Chancellor, University of Rajshahi. A vote of thanks was given by Niloy Saha, Chief Executive, BSCF, followed by a cultural performance.
