The Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF), an outreach programme of the Department of Media Studies and Journalism at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), has launched the ‘Proud Bangladesh’ Mobile Filmmaking Workshop in collaboration with Infinix Mobile to provide hands-on mobile filmmaking training for university students across the country.

The four-day workshop is being held on 16, 17, 23, and 24 January, bringing together selected university students with a strong interest in storytelling through mobile devices. During the programme, participants are working in teams to produce short films based on the theme ‘Proud Bangladesh’, focusing on narratives of culture, creativity, resilience, and national pride.

Out of more than 70 applicants from 13 universities, five teams comprising 20 participants were selected for the workshop. The participating institutions include North South University, Daffodil International University, Daffodil Polytechnic Institute, Army Institute of Business Administration, and the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).

The workshop is being conducted by filmmaker and instructor Mir Wadud Islam, and covers the full mobile filmmaking process, from idea development and scripting to shooting, editing, and final submission. Participants are receiving practical training alongside mentorship from experienced industry professionals.

All selected participants will receive certificates upon successful completion of the workshop. The final short films will be showcased and outstanding teams will have the opportunity to win prizes sponsored by Infinix Bangladesh.
