EWU organises day-long job fair for students and graduates
East West University (EWU) hosted a day-long job fair on 15 November, 2025, connecting thousands of aspiring graduates with seventy national and multinational organisations. The event was inaugurated by Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, at the EWU campus in Aftabnagar, Dhaka.
In his remarks, Fouzul Kabir Khan urged young people to pursue ethical leadership and consider entering politics. “There is a need for honest people in the politics of Bangladesh. I urge honest individuals to build their careers in politics,” he said. He also encouraged students to prioritise innovation and entrepreneurship rather than focusing solely on traditional job-seeking. Highlighting the global shift in hiring priorities, he added, “The demand for skills is increasing more than the demand for degrees. What I can do is more important than the degree I have achieved.” He emphasised that young people should generate wealth through production and innovation rather than lobbying or seeking undue advantages.
Barrister Nihad Kabir, former president of the Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Dhaka, attended as the special guest. She described the fair as a “great opportunity” for students to explore career paths, engage with their preferred organisations and learn directly from employers about available roles.
Professor Mohammed Farashuddin, chairperson of the EWU Board of Trustees and former governor of Bangladesh Bank, highlighted the importance of entrepreneurship for national development. He said the government should prioritise building and supporting small and medium enterprises to reduce poverty and inequality. He proposed developing three million small entrepreneurs, supported through training and low-interest or Islamic Mudaraba-method loans, to boost production and employment.
EWU Vice-Chancellor Professor Shams Rahman said the job fair was designed to strengthen industry–academia linkage. He noted that the fair not only enabled students to apply to leading organisations but also allowed employers to identify promising graduates.
Seventy companies took part in the event, including banks, NGOs, telecom operators, RMG firms, electronics manufacturers, software companies, financial institutions, pharmaceutical firms, beverage companies and HR training organisations, offering a broad range of career opportunities for EWU students and alumni.
Members of the board of trustees, the pro-vice-chancellor, treasurer, deans, faculty members, officials and representatives of various corporate organisations were also present at the event.
