Ink and Imagination: Unleashing the power of young writers

The Language Luminaries (TLL), a non-profit educational organisation, is hosting their flagship online writing competition, Ink and Imagination. This event aims to inspire young writers and encourage creativity, critical thinking, and the art of expression.

With submissions open until 23rd December, the competition provides a unique platform for aspiring writers to showcase their talents.

Participants will have the opportunity to compete in three diverse categories: Argumentative Writing, Story Writing, and Review Writing. Each segment is designed to challenge different aspects of writing and creativity.

Argumentative Writing invites participants to tackle thought-provoking topics, such as:

  • Is the concept of human rights universal, or should it vary based on cultural context?
  • Is the preservation of dying languages necessary, or should they fade naturally?
  • Should governments create policies to discourage overpopulation in urban areas?

Story Writing challenges imagination and narrative skill, featuring prompts like:

  • The day the colours faded.
  • The traveller’s journal.
  • The day gravity stopped working.

In Review Writing, participants are tasked with critically analysing films while avoiding spoilers. Selected films for review include:

  • Blade Runner 2049
  • Ghosted
  • Chennai Express
  • Klaus

This competition is partnered with TBS Graduates and The Business Standard. The Language Luminaries team has funded the prizes and certifications. So far, 40 writers from Dhaka and beyond have signed up to participate, with more joining daily.

The winners—including Champions, Runners-Up, and the prestigious Best Writer award—will be announced on 24th December via The Language Luminaries’ official Facebook page.
