As the country observed one year of the ouster of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the Awami League government, universities across the country either observed a holiday or held events to observe the day.

Most university classes remain closed as the government announced a public holiday on the day. Universities which remained close include Jahangirnagar University, United International University (UIU), and a few others.

Meanwhile, residential halls of different universities including Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka University and Hajee Mohammad Danesh Science and Technology University are special food at the dining halls to create a festive environment among students. Meanwhile, a few universities including Bangladesh University of Textiles (Butex) are holding programmes to celebrate the day.

Comilla University celebrated the day by organising of rallies and discussion panel. At 10 am, a procession was bought out that circled the university campus with a ceremonial cutting of the cake. The panel discussion resumed from 11 am with the Vice-Chancellor of the university Professor Md Haider Ali, attending as the chief guest. The programme concluded with an exhibition of 56 photographs depicting moments from the July mass uprising.

Also, Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) marked the first anniversary of the July Movement with a two-week series of student-led events, concluding on 4 August 2025 with a seminar and cultural programme.
