Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) observed Great Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day today with solemnity and deep respect.

The programme began at 7:00 AM with the national flag hoisted at half-mast at 36th July Square. Teachers, students, officers, and staff wore black badges as a mark of mourning. A procession, led by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. GKM Mostafizur Rahman, marched across the campus and concluded at the Central Shaheed Minar, where floral wreaths were placed in honour of the language martyrs.

Following the procession, a brief discussion session was held, during which the Vice-Chancellor described 21st February as an “eternal source of inspiration and struggle.” He highlighted the historic sacrifice made for the Bengali language and reaffirmed the university’s commitment to uphold the spirit of the Language Movement and national independence.

Special prayers were offered at the Central Mosque for peace for the martyrs and prosperity for the nation. Through this observance, GAU reaffirmed its dedication to preserving the dignity of the mother language and promoting enlightened nation-building.
