Independent candidates secure five posts outside Shibir panel in Ducsu

In the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (Ducsu) election, the United Student Alliance, supported by Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, won 23 out of 28 posts, including Vice President (VP), General Secretary (GS), and Assistant General Secretary (AGS). The remaining five posts were claimed by independent candidates.
The official results were announced at 8:30am at the Dhaka University Senate Building by Chief Election Commissioner Prof Dr Md Jasim Uddin.
The independent winners include Zubair Bin Neshari for the Social Services Secretary post with 7,608 votes, Musaddiq Ali Ibne Mohammad for the Literature and Cultural Secretary post with 7,782 votes, Sanjida Ahmed Tanvi for the Research and Publication Secretary post with 11,708 votes, and Hema Chakma and Ummu Uswatun Rafia for the Member posts.
Among the winners from the United Student Alliance, Sadiq Kayem secured the Vice President post, SM Forhad won as General Secretary, and Mohiuddin Khan became the Assistant General Secretary, each with a significant vote margin.
A total of 39,874 voters participated in this year’s Ducsu elections, including 18,959 from five female halls and 20,915 from 13 male halls.
