‘Introduction to Hult Prize’ session held at Comilla University
An orientation session titled “Introduction to Hult Prize” was held at Comilla University (CoU), organised by the university’s on-campus Hult Prize team as part of the international social entrepreneurship competition.
The session took place on Saturday (1 November) at the Faculty of Business Studies Seminar Room.
The event featured Ahmed Kabir Chaion, WordPress Contributor at Hosting.com; Md Aminul Islam, National Coordinator of the Hult Prize Foundation; and Md Abid Shahriya, National Committee Coordinator, as keynote speakers. Professor Dr Md Abdul Majed Patwary, Adviser of Hult Prize CoU, attended the event along with executive committee members and around 100 students from various departments.
Speakers discussed the Hult Prize’s origin, competition structure, and team formation process. They also explained how the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are integrated into the Hult Prize framework and how innovative entrepreneurial ideas can contribute to achieving these goals. Emphasising the competition’s broader impact, they noted that the Hult Prize is not merely a contest but a platform that fosters leadership, innovation, teamwork, and social responsibility among students.
Professor Dr Md Abdul Majed Patwary, adviser to the Hult Prize On-Campus Round, said, “Hult creates a wonderful opportunity for our university to be represented on the global stage. Last year, one of our teams even travelled abroad with their innovative idea of making bandages from bamboo. While I know students are busy with their studies, I hope you will take Comilla University and Bangladesh to greater heights through your passion, dedication, and hard work.”
Anika Tabassum Sadia, Campus Director of Hult Prize CoU, said, “The goal of this year’s Hult Prize is to help university students understand how the 17 Sustainable Development Goals can be aligned with their entrepreneurial projects. We have also announced that the second round will be held on 21 November, followed by the On-Campus Grand Finale on 3 January 2026. Today’s session aimed to familiarise students with the core values and structure of the Hult Prize.”
