IUB to host international conference on culture and creative industries
Independent University Bangladesh will host a two-day international conference titled “The Nation and Its Imaginations: Culture and Creative Industries in Bangladesh” on 9–10 April 2026 at its Dhaka campus.
Organised by the Department of Media and Communication, the conference will bring together academics, researchers and practitioners to explore how culture and creative industries shape national narratives, identities and economies.
The programme will include keynote speeches, panel discussions and 12 parallel sessions covering themes such as media, representation, storytelling, audience perception and the evolving dynamics of creative industries.
Craig Batty, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the College of Creative Arts, Design and Humanities at the University of Adelaide, will deliver the opening keynote. Daniel W Lund, Pro Vice-Chancellor of IUB, will deliver the keynote on the second day.
The conference aims to provide a platform for critical engagement with the role of imagination in research, creative practice and policy, with a focus on Bangladesh.
