Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) is set to host the 5th International Conference on Language, Literature, Culture, and Crises on 26–27 June 2025.

Organised by the Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML), the two-day event will gather scholars and practitioners from across the globe to explore the role of literary, linguistic, and cultural narratives in understanding contemporary global disruptions.This year’s theme, Crises, will examine disruptions across a broad spectrum—academic, environmental, technological, linguistic, and cultural—and how these are represented, contested, and reimagined in various forms of expression.

Keynote speeches will be delivered by renowned scholars Professor Niaz Zaman, Professor Rob Waring, and Professor Kaiser Haq.

The plenary sessions will feature critical contributions from David A. Peterson, Nimanthi Rajasingham, Nagesh Rao, Kittitouch Soontornwipast, and Professor Md. Mahmudul Hasan.In addition to regular paper presentations, round tables, and dialogues, the conference will host three special sessions: Creative Writing and Crises, Bangladeshi Literature and Culture Now, and Minority Languages and Cultures. These will provide platforms for interdisciplinary exchange and creative engagement.

The conference aims to foster deeper critical dialogue and international academic collaboration on how crises are both shaped by and reflected in language, literature, and cultural practices.
