JU Hosts Voices of Liberty 2025 Conference

The Voices of Liberty Conference, a flagship event hosted by Students for Liberty (SFL) in collaboration with the Ladies of Liberty Alliance (LOLA) and Save Youth JU Chapter (Students Against Violence Everywhere), was held at the Department of International Relations, Jahangirnagar University.
The day-long programme brought together nearly 100 students from diverse academic disciplines, including 30 participants from various universities, under the theme “Because Freedom Without Voice is Not Freedom at All.”
The chief guest was Professor Aynul Islam from the Department of Political Science, University of Dhaka. Special guests included Professor Sajib Bala, PhD; Associate Professor Tasmia Persoob; and Lecturer Md Sazzad Hossen from the Department of International Relations, Jahangirnagar University; as well as Effat Jahan Efa, Regional Coordinator at Students for Liberty (SFL).
The event featured an engaging quiz competition and poster presentations from 7 teams on topics such as reform for freedom, youth against violence, and liberty from women’s perspectives. The conference aimed not only to inform but also to inspire active participation in civic life, emphasising the principles of freedom, democracy, human rights, and individual agency.
By embedding liberal values within Bangladesh’s socio-political context, the programme served as both a platform for critical dialogue and a catalyst for civic engagement. It encouraged students to develop the intellectual capacity, strategic skills, and moral commitment necessary to contribute meaningfully to the nation’s development, while fostering resilience and optimism in the face of societal challenges.
