Milestone College is set to reopen partially on 3 August, after an extended closure caused by a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crash that claimed lives and injured several students and teachers.

College authorities confirmed on Saturday evening that regular academic activities would not resume immediately. The partial reopening is intended to support students’ emotional well-being and assist them in gradually returning to normalcy.

“This campus has gone through a heartbreaking experience,” said Shah Bulbul, public relations officer of the college. “At this moment, improving the students’ emotional condition is our top priority.”

Students from grades 9 to 12 will be permitted to return to the campus, although no classes will be held on the first day. Instead, the college is prioritising a safe and supportive environment where students can reconnect with teachers and peers.

“This is our first step,” Bulbul added. “We are encouraging students to come, talk to teachers, and find emotional ease in the presence of their peers.”

To aid in recovery, the college has arranged prayer sessions, counselling programmes, and a medical and psychological support camp in collaboration with the Air Force, which remains operational.

“We want our students to gradually regain their rhythm. Our strength during this crisis has been the compassion and unity shown by students, parents, and teachers,” said Bulbul.

The fatal crash on 21 July plunged the institution into mourning, leading to multiple extensions of its closure. With the current measures, Milestone College hopes to initiate emotional recovery for its students while continuing to monitor the situation before fully resuming academic operations.
