Milestone School and College in the capital’s Uttara area reopened today (3 August), 13 days after a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed into one of its buildings, killing 34 people, mostly students, and injuring more than 100 others.

While the institution resumed operations, no regular academic activities or examinations were scheduled for the day. The reopening was marked by a memorial programme held in honour of those who lost their lives in the incident.

Students were seen returning to campus in the morning, with many still visibly distressed. Some shared that they continued to feel anxious, particularly when aircraft fly overhead. Parents and guardians who gathered near the damaged structure also expressed concern, citing fears of a similar tragedy occurring in the future.

Shah Bulbul, public relations officer of the institution, stated on Friday evening (2 August) that the reopening aimed to support the students’ mental well-being and ease their transition back to a routine.

He added that counselling services have been arranged on campus, and a medical camp operated in coordination with the Bangladesh Air Force is providing both physical and psychological support.
