East West University hosted a seminar titled “Modern HR Adopting to a Changing Workforce” on 11 November, 2025, at the S M Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery on its Aftabnagar campus. The session, focused on the evolving landscape of modern human resources, was attended by students enrolled in the foundational HRM course.

The seminar featured Tasnia Kabir, senior manager of talent management at SMEC International Pty Ltd, as the guest speaker. She previously served as HR manager at the British Council and worked at Philip Morris Bangladesh Ltd as a people and culture specialist, experience that has contributed to her expertise in people operations and talent development.

Ms Kabir began by introducing key human resource management concepts from an industry perspective before moving into the modern realities of HR. Drawing on recent research, she highlighted the challenges employers face in engaging with younger generations and the steps being taken to bridge this gap. She also discussed the mindset, values, and work style preferences of Gen Z — the demographic represented by the audience — and how these differ from industry expectations.

A notable feature of the seminar was its emphasis on student engagement. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share perspectives on employer expectations, interview skills, and workplace dynamics. They also took part in interactive discussions through the Mentimeter tool. Attendees appreciated the practical industry insights into the evolving expectations of both employees and employers.

The Department of Business Administration organised the event, which was moderated by Shabiha Afrin Sharna, lecturer at East West University.
