National University signs MoU with ACCA to enhance employability skills
National University Bangladesh has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) to strengthen skills development and improve employability among graduates.
The agreement was signed on 7 April 2026 at the residence of the British High Commissioner in Dhaka. The signing took place in the presence of Rosie Winterton, UK Trade Envoy for Bangladesh and member of the House of Lords, and Sarah Cooke, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh.
The MoU was signed by ASM Amanullah, Vice-Chancellor of National University, and Proma Tapasi Khan, Country Manager of ACCA Bangladesh, along with senior officials from both organisations.
Under the agreement, National University students will gain access to internationally recognised accounting qualifications through ACCA, beginning with the Certified Accounting Technician (CAT) programme. The initiative aims to equip students with skills aligned with the needs of national and global employers, including corporate sectors, SMEs, accounting firms and business process outsourcing (BPO) industries.
Officials said the partnership would help bridge the gap between academic qualifications and employability, addressing the challenge of graduate unemployment despite high demand for skilled professionals.
Vice-Chancellor ASM Amanullah described the collaboration as a significant step towards enhancing employability and strengthening accounting and finance education in Bangladesh. He noted that the partnership would promote knowledge exchange, capacity building and the integration of global standards into the education system.
Rosie Winterton said the agreement marked a new phase in UK-Bangladesh collaboration, expanding access to international qualifications for thousands of students.
ACCA Bangladesh Country Manager Proma Tapasi Khan emphasised that education should lead to employability, noting that the partnership would provide students with a practical pathway to begin their careers through the CAT qualification.
