A large rally was held today (24 August) in Rajshahi as engineers with BSc degrees called for reforms in recruitment and promotion systems, organised by the Rajshahi Divisional Engineers Association.

The protesters presented three key demands: direct recruitment for Assistant Engineer (9th grade) posts through exams only, elimination of diploma quotas for Sub-Assistant Engineer (10th grade) positions, and recognition of professional status exclusively for BSc degree holders.

Students from Pabna University of Science and Technology, RUET, and Rajshahi University, along with HSC students, joined the march. The rally began at 11:15am in front of RUET Central Library and moved towards Rajshahi University, culminating in a gathering at the university’s main gate where demands were reiterated.

Dr. Md. Rabiul Islam Sarker, DSW of RUET, and Md. Mahbubor Rahman, Proctor of Rajshahi University, addressed the crowd, expressing their support for the engineers’ cause.
