The Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Computer Club (SAUCC) organised a special session titled “Unlock Your Earning Potential with IT Skills” on 14 January 2026, in collaboration with Creative IT Institute.

The programme was held alongside the certificate-giving ceremony for participants of the MS Office Crash Course and Introductory to Bioinformatics workshops.

Professor Dr Belal Hossain, pro vice-chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, attended the event as the chief guest. In his address, he said specialised knowledge has become more important than general knowledge in the modern era and praised SAUCC for its contribution to IT skill development despite the absence of a computer science department at the university.

He also announced that the university is planning to establish a Department of Bioinformatics and introduce programming, Python and bioinformatics courses for faculty members, highlighting the institution’s technology-focused academic vision.

Among others present at the programme were Professor Dr Md Ashabul Hoque, director of the Directorate of Student Affairs; Professor Dr Arfan Ali, proctor; Professor Dr Abdur Rahim, chairman of the Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding; and SAUCC moderator Md Masudul Hassan.

The programme was presided over by Abdullah Al Ahsan Alvee, president of SAUCC, who emphasised the importance of industry-oriented IT skills for students in today’s competitive job market.

The workshops were conducted by Md Shohidur Rahman, AGM and head of department, Graphics and Multimedia, and Sadia Hossain Mim, associate faculty member of the same department. They shared practical industry insights and highlighted real-world applications of IT skills.

The event concluded with the distribution of certificates among the workshop participants, recognising their successful completion of the courses. The initiative reflects SAUCC’s continued commitment to equipping students with practical skills, industry exposure and career-oriented learning through collaboration with reputed institutions.
