Southeast University Welcomes Summer 2025 Freshers with Grand Orientation Programs

Southeast University (SEU) held two-day Freshers’ Reception and Orientation Program on 2 and 3 July 2025 to welcome newly admitted students of the Summer 2025 Semester. The events took place at SEU’s Multipurpose Hall and were organised by the university’s academic schools to introduce students to their respective departments and the broader university environment.

The Orientation Program was divided into four sessions, each designed to familiarise students with academic expectations, institutional resources, and career opportunities within their fields of study.

On 2 July, the School of Science and Engineering (SSE) hosted the first two sessions. The first session welcomed students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), featuring Mr. Mohammad Manjur Mahmud, President of DataSoft Systems Bangladesh Limited, as the Chief Guest. He shared industry perspectives on the evolving tech landscape.

The second session included freshers from the Departments of Architecture, Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), and Textile Engineering. Engr. Mohiuddin Ahmed (Selim), Chairman of the Textile Engineering Division, The Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, attended as Chief Guest and addressed students on professional development within engineering disciplines.

On 3 July, the School of Arts and Social Sciences (SASS) conducted the third session for students from the Departments of Economics, English, and Bangla. Professor Baziul Haque Khondker, Department of Economics, University of Dhaka, and Chairman of SANEM, served as Chief Guest and encouraged students to contribute meaningfully to social and economic research.

The final session of the programme was hosted by the Southeast Business School (SBS), where students of the BBA and MBA programmes were welcomed. Md. Mahbubur Rahman, FCA, Additional Managing Director and CFO of City Bank PLC, joined as Chief Guest and spoke on innovation, leadership, and career readiness in the business sector.

All sessions were presided over by Professor Dr. Yusuf Mahbubul Islam, Vice Chancellor of SEU. Professor Dr. M. Mofazzal Hossain, Pro Vice Chancellor, and Maj Gen Md Anwarul Islam, SUP, ndu, psc (Retd), Registrar, also addressed the students, along with respective Deans and Department Chairs.

The Orientation Program was designed to formally initiate students into SEU’s academic and cultural environment, providing them with guidance and motivation as they begin their higher education journey.
