Professor Dr Akhter Hossain Khan was appointed vice chancellor of the State University of Bangladesh
Professor DrAkhter Hossain Khan, a distinguished academic and retired Grade-1 Professor from the University of Dhaka, has been appointed as the new Vice Chancellor of the State University of Bangladesh (SUB).Born in Rangunia, Chattogram, Dr Khan began his academic journey at Muradnagar High School in Cumilla and Chittagong Government College, where he completed his SSC and HSC, respectively. He then enrolled in the Department of Soil Science at the University of Dhaka, where he earned both his BSc (Hons) and MSc with distinction—securing First Class First in his master’s programme.
Dr Khan pursued his PhD and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Kansas State University (KSU), USA, where he was awarded the Neal and Florence E. Morehouse Graduate Scholarship and the Roscoe Ellis Jr Graduate Scholarship. In addition to his academic accomplishments, he held several leadership positions .Returning to Bangladesh, Dr Khan joined Dhaka University as an Assistant Professor and rose through the ranks to become a Grade-1 Professor in 2017. Over the years, he held numerous key positions.
