Students have warmly welcomed the approval of the permanent campus project of Rabindra University by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC).
Upon hearing the news of the project’s approval during the ECNEC meeting held on 17 August , students, teachers, and staff of Rabindra University ended their hunger strike and began celebrating the decision.
Pro-Chancellor Dr. Suman Kanti Barua was present at the gathering and offered water to the students who had been on hunger strike, marking a symbolic and emotional end to their protest.
The university community expressed heartfelt gratitude to the government for fulfilling their long-standing demand for a permanent campus.
The ECNEC meeting, chaired by Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus, approved a total of 11 development projects, including the establishment of a permanent campus for Rabindra University.
Prior to this, students had boycotted the University Day on 26 July as part of their protest. The hunger strike had begun on Saturday, continuing until the announcement brought it to an end.
