US News and World Report Ranking: Dhaka University ranks highest in Bangladesh

According to the 2024-2025 Best Global Universities Rankings by US News and World Report, Dhaka University (DU) holds the position of the highest-ranked university in Bangladesh.

DU ranks 560th globally with a score of 52.3; it holds the 146th position among the best universities in Asia.

Additionally, Rajshahi University ranks 1,076th globally and 342nd in Asia, with a score of 41.3. The Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) holds the 1,396th position globally and 488th in Asia, scoring 35.7.

Jahangirnagar University is ranked 1,414th globally and 500th in Asia, with a score of 35.5. Bangladesh Agricultural University is placed 1,775th globally and 689th in Asia, with a score of 29.

US News created a pool of 2,271 institutions from which they ranked the top-scoring 2,250 universities in the overall ranking. The scores from 13 indicators decided the position of a university. Global research reputation and regional research reputation held the highest weight, 12.5% each.

Last year, DU was placed under the 691-700 bracket.

Harvard secured the top place in the ranking with a score of 100, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Stanford University with scores of 96.9 and 94.5 respectively. According to the QS World University Rankings, DU recently secured the 554th position globally.
