Despite a cyclone alert in coastal regions, the National University of Bangladesh held its first-year undergraduate (honours) admission test for the 2024–25 academic session today (31 May).

Professor ASM Amanullah, vice-chancellor of the National University, had announced the final schedule during a press conference yesterday (30 May) at the NU city office in Dhanmondi.

The exam was conducted simultaneously at 879 centres across all seven divisions of the country, with approximately 5,50,000 students participating. Originally scheduled for 3 May, the test was postponed twice—first to 24 May and then to 31 May—due to logistical challenges.

According to university sources, all arrangements had been finalised in advance, with coordination meetings held with centre principals and secretaries to ensure smooth operations. Exam centres were allocated based on the previously published lists.

Dhaka Division hosted the largest number of centres (247), followed by Khulna (156), Rajshahi (143), Chattogram (134), Rangpur (96), Barishal (59), and Sylhet (44). In addition to government colleges, several local educational institutions were used as exam venues.

The exam comprised 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) to be answered within one hour.

Admission results will be based on a total of 200 marks, combining the entrance exam score with 40% of the SSC GPA and 60% of the HSC GPA.

Students were required to bring their admit cards and HSC registration cards to the exam halls. While scientific calculators were allowed, the use of mobile phones or any other electronic devices was strictly prohibited.
