Earth’s Ants and SEED partner to launch K–12 climate education initiative in Bangladesh
Earth’s Ants, a youth-led environmental organisation based in Bangladesh, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Students for Environmental Education & Discovery (SEED), a nonprofit led by scholars at Cornell University, USA.
The partnership aims to advance climate education, sustainability awareness, and environmental literacy across Bangladesh.
The collaboration merges SEED’s global expertise in environmental education with Earth’s Ants’ local knowledge to address pressing climate challenges in Bangladesh and the wider South Asian region. Under this framework, Bangladesh becomes the first country to launch a structured K–12 climate education programme under this international initiative.
Key objectives of the MoU include the joint development and localisation of climate science and sustainability curricula in Bangla and English, ensuring accessibility and cultural relevance for students and educators nationwide. The partnership will also facilitate research exchanges, educational resources, and technical support, promoting evidence-based learning and strengthening community-level environmental education.
Earth’s Ants and SEED will co-organise workshops, seminars, teacher training programmes, and student awareness campaigns to enhance climate literacy, empower youth, and build public understanding of environmental issues. Earth’s Ants will lead local coordination, implementation, and stakeholder engagement, while SEED will provide curriculum frameworks, instructional materials, technical guidance, and evaluation support based on international best practices.
The agreement emphasises ethical collaboration, including child protection, safeguarding, data privacy, and compliance with local and international regulations. All co-developed educational materials will be recognised as shared intellectual property for long-term use in digital and printed formats. SEED will further support the initiative by providing high-quality printed and digital learning resources.
“Earth’s Ants is committed to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability through education-led community engagement. Partnering with SEED allows us to integrate international climate education models into locally grounded initiatives across Bangladesh,” said the organisation.
A representative of SEED added, “SEED promotes climate literacy through learner-focused environmental education. This collaboration enables us to support climate learning initiatives tailored to the local context in Bangladesh.”
Spanning three years, the partnership demonstrates a shared dedication to climate education, youth engagement, and sustainable impact. By combining SEED’s global knowledge with Earth’s Ants’ local implementation capacity, the alliance aims to pioneer a scalable model for environmental education and climate action across South Asia.
